This residential driveway restoration project was undertaken in Hatch End, focusing on a large block paved front approach that had suffered years of neglect. Constant exposure to vehicular traffic, weathering, and shaded boundary conditions had left the surface heavily infested with deep-rooted weeds, moss growth, and ground-in dirt. Rather than living with a dull and tired entrance, the homeowners commissioned PE Property Services to completely rejuvenate the block paving, restoring its original kerb appeal and structural integrity.

The Initial State: Challenges & Objectives

The driveway presented typical degradation issues common to high-traffic block paved surfaces:

• Severe Weed and Grass Infestation: Weeds and grass had firmly rooted themselves throughout the joints, displacing the original bedding sand and widening the gaps between individual blocks.

• Slippery Organic Growth: A heavy layer of green algae and moss covered shaded sections, creating slippery and hazardous conditions during wet weather.

1. Manual Weed Eradication & Scraping: Initial clearing of heavy root systems and stubborn weeds from all joints using specialised scraping tools.

2. Deep Rotary Surface Pressure Washing: Using commercial-grade flat-surface cleaners powered by high-flow water jets to blast away years of ingrained dirt, moss, and old degraded jointing material evenly across the driveway.

3. Targeted Stain Pre-Treatment: Applying biodegradable pre-treatments to dissolve stubborn oil drops and organic staining areas.

4. Rinse and Debris Clearance: Thoroughly washing down the entire driveway layout and clearing away all extracted sediment and organic waste.

5. Kiln-Dried Sand Application: Once the blocks and sub-base dried completely, we applied premium kiln-dried sand, sweeping it thoroughly into every joint to interlock the blocks and provide structural rigidity.
